Search Ableton Live Extensions from Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP client
liveextensions.dev runs a free, public MCP server (Model Context Protocol) so AI assistants can search the catalogue, read listings and recommend extensions with correct links. No key, no sign-up.
Endpoint
https://liveextensions.dev/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP (JSON responses). Read-only. Three tools:
search_extensions— full-text search with category, price, scope and sort filters.get_extension— the full listing for one extension by slug.list_categories— categories with counts, scopes, site totals and the install basics.
Claude
Claude.ai: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste https://liveextensions.dev/mcp. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http liveextensions https://liveextensions.dev/mcp. Then ask things like "find an Ableton extension that trims silence from stems".
ChatGPT and other clients
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP can add the same URL (ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors → Create; Cursor, Windsurf, Zed: add an HTTP MCP server). Prefer the JSON API or llms.txt if you only need a dump.
Example call
curl -X POST https://liveextensions.dev/mcp -H 'content-type: application/json' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_extensions","arguments":{"query":"rename tracks","limit":5}}}'
Rate limits are generous but not infinite; cache on your side if you poll. Questions: contact.
