About Paulstretch For Live

Paulstretch For Live is an experimental Ableton Live extension for extreme stretching of audio. It embeds libpaulstretch, a modern C++ rewrite of the original Paulstretch by Nasca Octavian Paul, so the effect can be used from inside Live.

The extension opens a dialog for setting up the stretch. The README's screenshot shows the dialog's Parameters tab, which includes an envelope editor for the stretch multiplier. When running inside Live, the dialog shows an Apply bar for applying the result.

The README does not say which right-click item the extension appears on in Live.

Requirements:
- Ableton Live 12.4.5 Suite or later, where extensions are currently in beta. The README notes it will not work in earlier versions.

Installation:
- Download the prebuilt Paulstretch-<version>.ablx file from the repository's Releases page.
- Install it in Live under Preferences, Extensions.

A companion browser version, Paulstretch For Web, is also available from the same author.

Paulstretch For Live is licensed under GPL v2.0, as is libpaulstretch. The bundled dialog includes the Inter and JetBrains Mono fonts under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

How to install

  1. Download the extension from the author's link above.
  2. In Ableton Live 12 Suite (beta 12.4.5+), open Settings → Extensions and add the .ablx file.
  3. Right-click the item it works on in your Set and pick Paulstretch For Live from the menu.

Extensions run real code on your computer. Only install extensions from authors you trust, and save your Set first. More on safety →
